Across east London and Bedfordshire, there are many thousands of carers who work hard to look after a family member, friend or partner who is in need because they are unwell, are frail or have a disability.
Carers Week is an opportunity to highlight the important work they do, and to say thank you. Often, without their work, both the health service and wider society itself would be put under immense pressure.
This annual campaign highlights the challenges unpaid Carers face and recognises the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK. It also helps people who don't think of themselves as having caring responsibilities to identify as Carers and access much-needed support.
Make Caring Visible and Valued is the theme for this years’ Carers Week and will focus on the importance of not only recognising carers, but also valuing them for the vital contribution they make every day.
Hackney Council is hosting a range of events across the week and beyond. Full details can be found here: Hackney Council Carers Week Events
