A friendly and long-serving member of the Trust family has been appointed as our first People Participation (PP) Lead for Learning Disability (LD) services.

Simon Bedeau starts his new role on Monday (June 21), a day after national Learning Disability Week 2021 concludes.

Simon, who celebrates 10 years with the Trust this summer, is moving from his role as a speech and language therapist based at Twinwoods near Bedford.

ELFT provides LD services across East London, Bedfordshire and Luton and Simon’s work will be Trust-wide.

“My role will be to involve supporting service users and carers in looking at how we can improve services and really listening to their voices,” said Simon.

“One of the first things I will be doing is meeting teams across our LD services to find out how they would like to support and involve service users and carers, and to meet service users and carers to understand their priorities.”

He added: "I'm excited to use inclusive communication approaches to support engagement with a wide range of service users."

Colleagues, service users and carers can contact Simon by emailing Simon.Bedeau@nhs.net
