The Social Work Learning and Development Team are excited to announce the launch of the Pan-London Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) Programme for Newly Qualified Social Workers (NQSW’s).

A project undertaken by Think Ahead and Skills for Care highlighted a need and appetite for an accessible and robust ASYE programme, supporting readiness to work in mental health and health led settings. The recommendation was for London NHS Trusts to work together, capitalising on economies of scale and the strength of a partnership to develop a pan-London NHS Trust based ASYE programme.

ELFT are hosting the pan-London NHS Trust based ASYE programme and are working with several London NHS Trusts (West London, CNWL, BEH, SLAM, South West London and St Georges and Oxley’s) to support and develop our newly qualified Social Workers (NQSWs) working in mental health settings. The programme is supported by Skills for CareThink Ahead and HEE.

The programme provides training, which is specific to social workers working in mental health settings. The training sessions are provided by experienced social workers across the partner NHS Trusts, providing opportunities for experienced and specialist mental health social workers to share their knowledge and expertise with NQSW’s.

We look forward to continually working with other London NHS Trusts to provide this programme. If you would like to find out more about the ASYE programme then please contact the Social Work Learning and Development Team at elft.social.work@nhs.net.
