Information and resources to help families to better understand the Social Communication / Autism Pathway for Speech and Language Therapy (Early Years)
We provide assessment and intervention for children with language delay/disorder up to reception age (under 5 years old). Once we receive your referral and your child is accepted into our service we will contact you to book you on to our pathway. This pathway includes a parent only workshop (SPACE), followed by 3 individual sessions with a Speech and Language Therapist. During the individual sessions the therapist will assess your child and provide recommendations and advice. Following these sessions your therapist will write a report and will discuss the next steps with you.
If it is appropriate your child and you may be invited to a group session in a children’s centre or some parent coaching sessions. Your child may also be referred on to other services if required, including the CHAND Autism Diagnosis Service. Your child’s report will be sent to you, their nursery and GP.
