The Start of your Volunteering Journey
The Volunteer Process
There are several steps to becoming a Volunteer. Throughout these web pages, each step will be explained for you, to help you to become a volunteer with us!
Step 1: Go through the Website
Volunteers are encouraged to look through the Volunteer website pages to better understand the East London Foundation Trusts's Volunteering process and procedures.
Step 2: Apply Online.
The next step is to find an opportunity that accomodates you. If interested, please fill out the application form which can be found on the 'Finding a Volunteer Opportunity' page. This is your chance to let us know a little bit about yourself and why you are interested in the role. The information you provide will help us decide your suitability.
Please be aware that we have limited roles with a high number of applications. If you do not hear from us, this unfortunately means you were unsuccessful this time round, but please do continue to search for future opportunities with us online.
Step 3: Meet the Team in an Initial Interview.
If you pass the application stage, you will be contacted by the Volunteer Service Team and invited to an interview. This is where we discuss the volunteer role, offer you the chance to ask us questions, asses your suitability and discuss the volunteer process.
Step 4: Complete your E-learning Training and DBS check.
All volunteers are required to complete mandatory E-learning training. You can find out more about this on the 'E-Learning Training' page.
You will also need to complete a Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check. You will not be able to volunteer with us until this is complete. You can find out more about this on the 'DBS Checks for Volunteers' page.
Step 5: Corporate Inductions.
There are two inductions you must go through in your journey to becoming a volunteer. The first will be with the Volunteer Service Team where we will discuss all things trust related, from visions, goals and ambitions, to code of conduct and health and safety. This can all be found in our guidebook on the 'Corporate Induction' page.
Step 6: Local Inductions.
The second induction will be held at your place of volunteering. You will be given a tour of your location, health and safety protocols should be discussed, and your role will be affirmed.
Step 7: Final Confirmations.
Once you have completed all of the above, a final confirmation with the Volunteer Service Team will be arranged. Here we finalise your hours of volunteering and create your rota. You will also be asked to sign an Honorary Agreement and Code of Conduct Promise and be provided with an ID badge.
Step 8: Start Volunteering!
You are good to go!
