By participating in NHS Digital's National Record Locator (NRL) Service, 731 ELFT crisis plans have been accessed by the London Ambulance Services so far, allowing patients known to our services to receive the appropriate mental health care.
National Record Locator
What's NRL?
NHS Digital's National Record Locator (NRL) Service hosts 'pointers' to patient information on our RiO electronic patient record system; allowing healthcare professionals to access Mental Health Crisis Plans at the point of need, and available nationwide.
Currently sharing care plans via NRL:
- East London
- North East London
- Barnet, Enfield & Haringey
- MerseyCare
- South West London & St George's
- South London and Maudsley
- Southern Health
- Somerset Partnership
- Midlands Partnership
- Cornwall Partnership
- Lincolnshire Partnership
- Cheshire & Wirral Partnership
- Lancashire Care via LPRES
- Humber
- CASPA Care Homes
What are the benefits?
Crisis plans created by our staff for our service users are incredibly useful to ambulance staff, and can prevent unnecessary admission into acute care. Similarly, A&E site liaisons and crisis line workers can benefit from being able to view this information.
When will ELFT staff be able to view patient information as well as share?
Soon, as well as continuing to share our service users’ crisis plans, we will be joining NHS Digital’s Summary Care Record application (SCRa). This will allow our own health and care practitioners (specifically A&E site liaisons and crisis line workers) to view clinical and demographic information.
