The event was well attended with local charities and services attending alongside veterans who work for OCS, Rydon's and in the Trust. (A massive thank you to Sean Robson for supporting the local community and providing a lovely buffet lunch.)
It was an opportunity to celebrate Armed Forces Day - slightly late - as we wanted to think through how we can support the armed forces both locally and across all our organisations. Following networking and a really useful group discussion, we agreed to take forward two workstreams. These were:
Breakfast Club
Opening of a breakfast club at The Lighthouse for veterans and their families. This will be supported by our Lighthouse volunteers and staff.
Multi-organisational Approach to Employment
Setting up a cross-organisation group looking at how we can improve the employment of the armed forces community across ELFT and our partners, OCS and RYDONS.
Jane Kelly, ELFT Armed Forces Community Clinical Lead, said, "It was really was inspirational to see so many members of staff from ELFT and our partner organisations working together to improve the quality of life for members of our communities who have served."
