ELFT is currently undergoing a co-produced Trustwide review of how we can improve the experiences and outcomes of autistic people; including our service users and work colleagues. We have just recruited two People Participation Leads for Autism to support this work.

Also, in the next few months, the Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism will start to be rolled out for all staff working in Health and Social Care. This important training will help to further improve the experience of service users.

Hi, I am Lynette. I’m autistic. My neurophysiology means I experience the world differently from non- neurodivergent people. I welcome curiousity and encourage people to learn by being open and asking what being autistic means to me I can also link you to a number of incredible resources.

I am working on a project reviewing what services in Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes do to support autistic adults. From that I hope to identify priority areas in order to make things equitable and accessible.

Maria Bell is the Autism Navigator for the City & Hackney Mental Health Crisis Services.

This is a newly commissioned post in the East London Foundation Trust with the aim to improve access for autistic people to mental health services, and improve autistic people’s experience of crisis services.

Maria is working on several projects including: collecting data on the number of autistic service users; developing training for staff on autism in crisis; ensuring access to reasonable adjustments; and more.

SCYPS Programme of Activities

Our SCYPS team have organised a programme of activities for parents of children and young people aged 0-18 years at West Ham Lane Children and Young People’s Centre, 84, West Ham Lane, Stratford E16 4P.

SCYPS Event On Day 1, parents had the opportunity to participate in a range of activities aimed at providing support and advice for their children's health and wellbeing.

These activities included "Fun with Food", an interactive session and advice for children who are fussy eaters, as well as advice and strategies for parents of autistic children on co SCYPS Event mmunication and emotional regulation.

The speech and language therapy service was also available for parents seeking additional support. Additionally, MENCAP ran a DLA application workshop to provide advice on financial support for families with disabled children.

The event was well-received by parents and the SCYPS team looks forward to continuing to provide valuable support and resources throughout the week.
