The family undertook a 10 mile sponsored walk around Sandy, Potton and the surrounding areas. The expedition took 7 hours and they raised an amazing £540. Rose Bibby said she was very appreciative of the support and care they have received from the mental health team and wanted to do something to show how grateful they were. She said, "Just saying the words 'thank you' didn't seem enough so we had the idea to do a fundraising walk."
She was joined by her husband, John and other members of the family for a 10 mile hike.
Mid Bedfordshire's Older People's CMHT Manager, Carla Lewinton and Operational Manager Louise Wragg met with John, Rose and two of their sons; Johnnie and Albert Bibby to receive the donation at The Lawns, Biggleswade.
The two managers were especially touched because Mrs Bibby said that she was aware that there are many different charities that support people with Alzheimer's Disease, but felt very strongly that she wanted to do something local that meant something to her and her family as a whole - where she has spoken to staff directly and been well supported.
Team Manager Carla Lewinton said "It came as a lovely surprise to be told that a very grateful family of one of our patients decided to complete a charity walk for The Lawns as a thank you for looking after their loved one."
