The conference took place on Monday 25 November at Friends House.
Since 2022, the Trust has successfully recruited 100s of nurses, AHPs and doctors from across the world to the Trust.
The day began with welcomes from CEO Lorraine Sunduza OBE and Trust Chair Eileen Taylor delivered a warm welcome, followed by a keynote address from Deputy CEO Edwin Ndlovu, setting the tone for an engaging day.
Attendees participated in an icebreaker led by Caroline Ogunsola, Strategic Lead for International Recruitment, which eased participants into the program. The morning featured insightful talks on the history of the NHS, international recruitment, and personal stories from healthcare professionals like Leena Sankar (one of our first international recruits) and Dr. Nadia Liaquat, sharing their journeys at ELFT.
The mid-morning plenary transitioned into a focus on health and wellbeing, with sessions on Professional nursing advocacy (PNA), benefits of joining a Union, and staff wellness initiatives. Fraud prevention and trends in international recruitment were also explored, providing attendees with a comprehensive understanding of support systems and professional growth opportunities.
After a lively group discussion and lunch, the afternoon sessions shifted focus to individual development. Talks on career progression, advanced fellowship programs, and nursing revalidation offered pathways for continued professional success. Practical topics like incident reporting and tax simplification provided memorable and tangible takeaways.
The day concluded with summaries from Ruth Bradley and Fiona Kelly, and closing remarks by Dr. David Bridle, ELFT’s Chief Medical Officer, leaving attendees inspired and informed.
Commentating on the event, Ruth Bradley, Director of Nursing said:
“It is important to recognise the important decision that our staff has made in relocation to another country and work at ELFT. This conference is an opportunity for us to come together, share knowledge, network and celebrate our diversity in meeting the needs of the people we serve.”
This event exemplified ELFT's dedication to its workforce, fostering growth, connection, and excellence within its diverse community of healthcare professionals.
