Richard Meddings CBE spent a day visiting ELFT on July 18, 2022.
The visit began with Richard joining the executive team meeting.
He then spent time talking with members of the People Participation (PP) and Quality Improvement (QI) services at Robert Dolan House, the Trust’s headquarters in Aldgate, before leaving at lunchtime to visit community and mental health services in east London.
Accompanied by Chief Executive Paul Calaminus, Richard travelled to Newham Centre for Mental Health, Newham CAMHS and East Ham Care Centre.
He spent time talking with operational colleagues from teams based across all of the sites.
The meeting was arranged after an invitation from Acting Chair Eileen Taylor, who joined Richard during his morning at Alie St.
“It was a privilege to host the visit and discuss strategic themes, demonstrate our commitment to continuous improvement and introduce him to ELFT’s greatest asset – its people,” she said.
Paul Calaminus thanked Richard for taking the time to visit ELFT.
“We were delighted to welcome Richard to the Trust and discuss how we are working with colleagues, service users, carers and partners to improve the quality of life for all we serve,” he said.
“It was also wonderful to see such a senior figure spend time with frontline colleagues and show such an active interest in hearing from them.”
Richard Meddings said: “Thank you to the ELFT team for hosting me on this visit.
“It was hugely helpful to meet patients and service users. Throughout the whole day I was struck by the energy and commitment of all those I met.”
He added: “I came away with a real insight to the pressures facing staff and the amazing work that they do.”
