Keeping the NHS clean and preventing infection is everybody’s responsibility from the Chief Executive to the healthcare cleaner. The Trust and OCS, who manage cleaning on ELFT premises, are taking this one step further. We are adopting a Commitment to Cleanliness Charter, a colour coded checklist of cleaning tasks and responsibilities established by the National Patient Safety Agency. The charter was signed by the Trust Chief executive, Paul Calaminus, and Interim Chair, Eileen Taylor.
Cleanliness matters to everyone and to ensure consistency throughout the NHS, and to support hospitals and healthcare services, this commitment has been adopted in every organisation.
David Stevens, Director of Estates said, "The Charter sets out the joint commitment of ELFT and OCS to ensure a consistently high standard of cleanliness is delivered in all of our healthcare facilities. Posters showing cleanliness scores and levels of cleaning requirements will be displayed in all our sites to demonstrate to patients, visitors, the public and staff that this is a vital part of our work."
Caroline Chautemps from OCS said, "I am delighted to be working with ELFT to comply with the new standards and ensure optimum cleaning levels to keep our service users, staff and visitors safe."
