The team at North Bedfordshire CAMHS have spent the last 12 months working hard to make their reception area more welcoming. They have collaborated with a group of service users to look at how the reception area can be more friendly for themselves as well as their parents and carers.
The reception area has now been transformed. It has been painted in pastel colours, comfortable and attractive furniture was introduced as well as fake plants being placed around the area. A sensory and reading area has also been added for younger service users, this includes; a whiteboard that service users can draw on, a reading unit with books, sensory bubble taps and a wall of lights that gently change colour. Also, who can forget about the essential coffee station that is free for everyone to use.
The cherry on top of the cake is the new mural that has been painted to complement the area. Az, an ex-service user was commissioned to paint this, and it looks fantastic.
Kate Smith, Operational Manager for North Bedfordshire CAMHS has said, “I would really like to thank Az for all his hard work on this. We now have an amazing, welcoming area for everyone to enjoy.”
