The Trust has secured ‘Gold Award’ status from the Ministry of Defence (MoD) Employment Recognition Scheme.
ELFT has worked from bronze to silver and now to gold through the scheme.
The Trust has also signed the Armed Forces Covenant and completed its Veterans Covenant Healthcare Alliance ‘Veteran Aware’ accreditation.
The ELFT Armed Forces Community work toward improving the care and treatment Armed Forces service users experience and increase awareness, and improve employment opportunities and support for Armed Forces in the Trust.
This work is co-produced with colleagues who served in the Armed Forces and with veterans and their loved ones. It is part of the Trust’s pursuing equity workstream, developing new approaches to support the principle that that everyone should have an equal opportunity to attain their full potential for health.
Jane Kelly, who leads the Armed Forces work, said: “This award is recognition for the incredible commitment and contribution of veterans and their families in helping the NHS provide the right care and employment opportunities for Armed Forces veterans.
“I am incredibly proud of everyone involved and grateful to every colleague who has listened, learned and made changes that further support our Armed Forces community.”
