Leading healthcare platform Health Service Journal (HSJ) has announced its 10th annual ranking of NHS leaders, which has included Lorraine Sunduza OBE during her first year as Chief Executive of ELFT.
The HSJ Top 50 – which launched in 2014 – is judged by leading figures within the health sector. This year’s judging panel included (amongst others):
-
Alastair McLellan, Editor, HSJ
-
Sir Julian Hartley, Chief Executive, NHS Providers
-
Sean Duggan, Chief Executive, NHS Confederation’s Mental Health Network
-
Patricia Marquis, Executive Director for England, Royal College of Nursing
The judging criteria focussed on the performance of organisations, their contribution to the wider healthcare system and the personal example CEOs have set for others.
Speaking about her inclusion in the HSJ Top 50, Lorraine Sunduza OBE said: “It’s wonderful to be recognised in this way. Working with committed colleagues, partners, service users and carers to provide the best possible care to our local populations has brought me to work at ELFT for more than 20 years. Being the Chief Executive of this organisation is a great privilege.”
The Trust’s Chair, Eileen Taylor, added: “I was delighted to see that this year’s HSJ Top 50 CEOs list has recognised Lorraine’s outstanding leadership. Lorraine’s commitment to ELFT’s values of care, respect and inclusion are evident in everything she does, as is her relentless focus on improving the health of the populations we serve.”
Having served as ELFT’s Interim Chief Executive since August 2023, Lorraine was substantively appointed the permanent Chief Executive in May 2024. She also received an OBE last week at a ceremony at Windsor Castle, for outstanding contributions to mental and community health and leadership in the NHS.
