The ELFT Corporate Governance team in Alie Street supported the Trust's Greenhouse Practice in Hackney by raising £3,000 from Charitable Fund and donating over fifty bags full of winter items for the homeless population.
The Christmas Homeless event, organised by the Greenhouse Practice, was held at 19 Tudor Road on December 9, where more than ten members from the Corporate Governance team volunteered to provide a one-stop health and help shop for the rough sleepers.
"It makes you feel like you're doing something real rather than back office and seeing what the Greenhouse team have to do here on a daily basis is inspiring," said Tina Bixby, Corporate Membership Officer.
"We are seeing for the first time the difference it is making by being here; seeing people walking with warm coats on their backs made it worth it," added Nicki McCoy, Corporate Secretarial Manager.
Director of Corporate Governance, Cathy Lilley, and some team members donated personally to Charitable Fund to help achieve the target of £3,000.
Some members of the team brought donations from friends and families, including gloves, coats, food, toiletries, pet food, and children's clothing.
Other team members volunteered by welcoming guests and visitors at the front door, giving a hot meal and drinks, and inviting people to have their free haircuts.
"It is great to talk to the people we support. Being out here makes our jobs real and this is what ELFT is about; patients come first in everything we do," said Cathy Lilley.
