UK Black Pride – the world's largest pride celebration for LGBTQI+ people of African, Asian, Caribbean, Latin American, and Middle Eastern descent – was celebrated by the Trust on Sunday, 14 August 2022 at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford.
Through programming, protest, and politics - the event was an opportunity for creating a safe space where identities and cultures could be expressed freely, in partnership with councils and venues, bringing LGBTQI+ Black people and people of colour together and celebrating the importance of these communities at the Olympic Park.
ELFT BAME Network Lead, Graham Manyere said: "I would like to thank everyone involved in the organisation that worked hard behind the scenes and for all the support you have shown at the event."
He added: "As always, inclusivity is at the heart of everything we do."
The Lesbian, Gay, Bi-Sexual, Trans, and Queer Plus (LGBTQ+) Staff Network
The LGBTQ+ staff network provides support to staff, organises events and advises the Trust on the development of services and policies to address inequalities that affect the LGBTQ+ community. The Network aims to empower all employees to step up as LGBTQ+ allies and improve the workplace culture for everyone within the Trust.
It promotes a better understanding of LGBTQ+ inclusion and makes LGBTQ+ experiences more visible in the wider Trust by giving LGBTQ+ colleagues a critical voice and ensuring that LGBTQ+ inclusion is embedded across the Trust.
The Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic (BAME) Staff Network
The Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic (BAME) staff network is an important forum that provides support to staff and advises the Trust on the development of services and policies to address inequalities and advance race equality.
Staff is encouraged to get involved in the BAME network to help improve staff experience at work and to help the Trust to understand the diversity of its staff and how we can ensure that everyone is treated fairly.
