We have been collaborating with the West Ham Foundation to enhance mental health for children and young people.
In a notable event before West Ham United’s Premier League match against Ipswich Town, our Chief Executive, Lorraine Sunduza took to the pitch alongside key figures such as Dr. Navina Evans, CBE, NHSE Chief Workforce, Training and Education Officer at NHS England, former West Ham defender Anton Ferdinand, and Pedro Delgado, Vice President of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement.
This gathering spotlighted the Foundation's mental health initiatives, showcasing the work of mentors who are actively engaged in offering support to young people across the community. The West Ham Foundation, the club’s official charity, has been instrumental in promoting health and wellbeing through sports participation in east London and Essex. The Foundation also prioritises mental health through staff training, an Employee Assistance Programme, and access to a mental health app.
Lorraine highlighted the importance of this partnership, expressing her pride in working alongside healthcare professionals and the Foundation to better support Newham’s community. This ongoing collaboration exemplifies how sports and healthcare sectors can join forces to make a significant impact on mental health and wellbeing at the local level.
