Hosted at the Trust HQ, the hybrid event saw a remarkable attendance of 109 people, signifying a collective aspiration for a more inclusive environment within the Trust.
The event, a hybrid of both online and in-person attendance, began with a breakfast session led by Lorraine Sunduza, CEO of ELFT, where attendees had the opportunity to engage with her directly. The interactive conversation centred around this year's IWD theme 'Inspire Inclusion', sparking conversations on how the Trust can further enhance inclusivity in its operations.
The event also featured free massages, providing a moment of tranquility and promoting self-care.
Key issues like sexual safety at work were openly discussed, highlighting the importance of a safe, secure and respectful workplace environment. Attendees were reassured that the Women's Network remains a steadfast support for issues related to menopause, menstruation, sexual safety, widowhood and more. This network stands as a vital space for women across the Trust to connect and share their experiences.
Collaboration was another dominant theme, echoing the spirit of the event. The Women's Network emphasised its intent to collaborate with all ELFT networks, including the ELFT Ability Network for workshops focusing on neurodiversity, and the LGBTQIA+ networks to provide enhanced support for lesbian and trans women.
A notable conversation with the lead of the Race Network urged women from diverse backgrounds to come together as a community. This invitation for inclusivity extended to the Men's Network as well, whose members participated as allies, discussing ways to mutually support each other.
The event also brought to life the aspiration of the intergenerational network, demonstrating a community where people of all ages can support each other in an inspiring and collaborative environment.
Doris Mc Meel, Lead and organiser of the network, said, "This year we surpassed the 'Inspire Inclusion' theme. We had representation from all backgrounds and networks at ELFT, which means a lot to us. It's heartening to see such enthusiasm and commitment to inclusivity within our Trust."
Philippa Graves, the Network Executive Sponsor, remarked, "I want to thank everyone who participated in making this event possible. I also want to extend my gratitude to Ruth Cooper, Millie Smith, and Elizabeth Hearn for their leadership in the network, who have sadly stepped down. This event also serves as an opportunity to welcome our three new Network Leads – Olajumoke Adeoye, Chloe Randall, and Rebecca Stanley, who will soon be introduced across the Trust."
