The Greenhouse practice is asking organisations and members of the public for their support in providing long-life food supplies, toiletries, warm clothes, and sanitary products, which will be given to visitors at its Christmas Fair being held on December 6, 2024.
The fair will be held at the practice at 19 Tudor Road.
Free warm meals and supplies of clothes will be available on the day, along with health and social care support, flu jabs, and other help and advice for visitors.
The fair will be a one-stop health and help shop for people living in hostels or supported accommodation, rough sleepers, sofa surfers and people who spend a significant amount of time on the street or in public places.
Donated items will go a long way in helping service users at the Greenhouse Practice prepare for the colder months.
Contributors can drop off donations at the practice at 19 Tudor Road or call 020 8510 4490 for more information.
The Greenhouse Practice is partnering with several organisations, including Groundswell, Hackney Council, the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), StreetVet, Riverside Engage Hackney, Stop Smoking, Turning Point, Liver Clinic and Thames Reach to provide comprehensive support at the event.
“We hope this event creates an opportunity for the community to better understand the challenges faced by those experiencing homelessness and sparks interest in volunteering,” said Emily Van De Pol, Executive Director of Primary Care.
“We’re incredibly grateful to our generous community for their support, which truly makes a difference in people’s lives.”
The Greenhouse Practice is part of East London NHS Foundation Trust (ELFT), a provider of primary care, community health and mental health services.
The practice supports anyone in City and Hackney experiencing homelessness, living in a hostel, hotel, temporary accommodation or who are sofa surfing or not registered with a GP or finding it hard to register with one.
