In recognition of World Mental Health Day 2023, the Bedford Borough Council Mindful Sport Team, working with ELFT and local mental health partners, is excited to announce a health and wellbeing event aimed at promoting mental health awareness and support within our community.
The event will take place in Harpur Square, Bedford Town Centre, (outside Bedford Central Library) on Tuesday October 10, from 11am to 3pm.
World Mental Health Day is all about taking a moment to reflect on our mental well-being and how we can support it. This event is designed to provide valuable information and activities to help you better understand and take care of your mental health.
Councillor Sarah Gallagher, Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Culture, said, "World Mental Health Day is a time for us all to come together and shine a spotlight on mental health. The Mindful Sport Team, in partnership with local mental health organisations, has organised a wonderful event where everyone is welcome. It's an opportunity to learn, engage, and prioritise your mental wellbeing."
The event schedule includes a variety of taster activities for different interests and needs:
- All Day: Table Tennis and Smoothie Bike for a dose of fun and fitness.
- 11am to 11.45am: Floor-based and seated gentle yoga for all ages.
- 12pm to 12.45pm: Join in and give social line dancing a try.
- 1pm to 1.45pm: Unleash your inner musician with a mindful percussion taster session.
- 2pm to 2.45pm: Try the unique experience of a wellbeing sound bath, lay down, relax, and let the sounds wash over you.
Additionally, you'll have the opportunity to meet health and wellbeing practitioners from ELFT and local mental health charities. We are here to provide guidance and support for those who may need it.
For all inquiries and additional information about the event, please contact Robert Lindsay, Bedford Borough Council's Sport Development Officer, at robert.lindsay@bedford.gov.uk.
We encourage all residents of Bedford Borough to join us on World Mental Health Day 2023 in Harpur Square. Together, let's take a step towards improved mental wellbeing and create a more supportive and understanding community.
