With summer closer than we may think, the Newham Recovery College will be launching its summer prospectus next week in Stratford, delivered by people with lived experience of mental health challenges.
What is the Newham Recovery College?
Newham Recovery College is a space for anybody 18+ to share, learn, and grow together in an informal educational environment. The College is open for everybody, whether you’re a carer, community leader, healthcare professional or somebody experiencing mental health difficulties.
The College creates and delivers courses for Newham residents who are looking to make positive changes in their lives. All courses are completely free to attend, with a mixture of in-person at community venues or online.
Courses are delivered by those with lived experiences of mental health challenges, as well as clinical academics. This is a safe, informal learning environment which provides plenty of support for anybody in Newham.
What can you expect from the Open Day?
The day will start with refreshments and snacks for attendees, before a taster session taking place before and after lunch – giving attendees the chance to fully immerse themselves in the Recovery College’s workshops and courses.
All throughout the day, guests will be able to meet the Newham Recovery College team and ask any questions they may have, and provide feedback about the sessions they have attended. Participants will also have the chance to show their creative side too with origami and plane making!
The summer prospectus will be available for pick-up on the day of the event. Prospective students will also be able to book one-on-one sessions with staff to tailor courses to their own needs, and even become enrolled.
