Information, help, guidance and workshops from CV writing to interview techniques will be available at ELFT’s Empowering Pathways to Employment event in Luton on Tuesday, September 24.
It is open to carers or service users of any age receiving support from ELFT mental health or physical health services across Luton, central Bedfordshire and Bedford borough.
The event will include speakers with lived experience sharing their personal journeys into employment, including people participation lead James Xavier, service user representative Claire Armstrong and carer Joanna Moonesinghe.
ELFT service users asked for the Trust to hold an employment event and have organised it in partnership with ELFT colleagues.
It will include speakers, a marketplace of stalls and workshops.
ELFT teams available on the day to provide friendly, welcoming advice and information include the Bedfordshire and Luton Individual Placement (IPS) service and Membership.
Partners involved include the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), Compass Wellbeing, Shaw Trust, Richmond Fellowship, Mind BLMK, Carers Central, Carers in Bedford, Disability Resource Centre and the OCS Foundation.
The day will run from 10am-3pm and guests are welcome to stay all day, or drop in at any point. Refreshments will be provided and the venue is fully accessible.
“We are really excited about this event and providing opportunities for visitors to explore a range of different ways into employment, find out what support is available, meet with employment experts and take part in workshops from body language in interviews to CV writing,” said Upma Monga, ELFT Deputy Head of People Participation.
“Employment can bring so many positives in building confidence, wellbeing and independence. This is something our service users and carers have asked for and we are delighted to be hosting the event, which has been co-produced with some of those amazing service users and carers.”
