Colleagues from NHS England and the Regional People Promise Exemplar Programme were in attendance.
Presenters from ELFT were Annabelle Hall, People Promise Manager, Lisa Baker, Associate Director of Organisational Development and Engagement, Steve Palmer, Associate Director for People Development, Keir Scarlett, Learning and Leadership Development Manager, and Tanya Carter, Chief People Officer.
The afternoon consisted of a presentation to the attendees about the People Promise and the work that has been taking place. The speakers looked at an overview of the exemplar programme, then a deep dive into certain topics aligning to each a people promise element such as people conversations, flexible working, communications and engagement and looking ahead to the future.
A standout from the visit was when Katharine Lazenby, Organisational Development Consultant, spoke about her own personal experience with flexible working. Katharine spoke about the opportunities it had given her six years ago as a service user involved with people participation and now as an Organisational Development Consultant.
“Without the freedom of flexible working, I couldn’t have done the job. I am able to bring my whole authentic self to work.”
Annable Hall, People Promise Manager spoke about the visit saying,
“I’m very happy with how the Exemplar visit went. I feel very proud to be part of the People Promise and it was a great opportunity to share all the work we have done with our colleagues at NHS England.”
Stephanie Crow, National Deputy Director of Staff Experience said,
“The evidence based, targeted and sustainable improvement approach to the chosen interventions is evident. Additionally, the way in which ELFT has aligned the interventions with its existing organisational values and “treasures” is very impressive...I look forward to hearing more about the progress and impact made going forward”
Lizzie Smith, Head of Workforce and Organisational Development at NHS England remarked,
"It was great to hear so many examples of the work ELFT is doing around the People Promise and retention, and also to understand how it fits into your wider organisational culture and improvement approach…I really appreciated the opportunity to meet colleagues from the team and hear about the journey you are on at what is a very tough time for all who work in health and care"
