Chika Soronnadi, a Senior Cardiac Rehabilitation Nurse in the Trust’s Newham Cardiac Rehabilitation Service, has been named as a Queen’s Nurse, a title which recognises commitment to learning, leadership and excellence in healthcare.
Chika was presented with a certificate and badge at a ceremony on Friday, 29th November.
The Queen’s Nurse Title is given by the Queen’s Nursing Institute (QNI) to nurses who continually go above and beyond to provide excellent patient-centred care. The application and assessment process to become a Queen’s Nurse is rigorous and requires clear commitment to improving care for patients, their families and carers.
The QNI’s annual awards ceremony was held at the Millennium Gloucester Hotel in London and brought together more than 500 community nurses.
Chika was noted for serving the local community diligently by showcasing her compassion, courage and competence enveloped in her day-to-day work. Across 20 years as a senior cardiac nurse, she has developed varied skills and knowledge coupled with exceptional expertise which has enabled her to provide excellent care and support service users.
Newham Cardiac Rehabilitation is a multi-disciplinary service for those who have suffered an acute cardiac event, such as heart attacks. It is based at Shrewsbury Road Health Centre in East Ham, offering care to service users after hospital discharge.
“I am honoured to be given the title of Queen’s Nurse,” said Chika.
“This recognition is a true testament to the collective efforts of my team, colleagues, peers, and the community we provide care for.”
She added: “I would not have been able to achieve this without the support of my fellow cardiac rehab colleagues. Being awarded this title has given me a platform to further promote the awesome work of nurses in the community, as well as my passion for the profession. I remain devoted to providing a safe and quality standard of care to the best of my ability.”
