An open day was hosted by Cauldwell Medical Centre (CMC) for its registered patients. Located at Kempston Rd in Bedford, the practice held the event on 19th September from 2.30-6.30 pm.
The occasion welcomed twenty visitors, offering an opportunity to meet and network with the healthcare team, gain insights into available services, and hear discussions on various health topics.
Attendees had the opportunity to engage with experts including Musculoskeletal Specialists, members of the Wellbeing Team, and others who provided insights on topics ranging from the complaints process to flu vaccinations.
The comprehensive programme featured talks from specialists in Advanced Clinical Practice, Mental Health, and Learning Disabilities. Discussions also covered flu vaccinations, the roles of nurses, pharmacists, advanced nurse practitioners, and the benefits of e-Consult, NHS app and care navigation. ELFT management and representatives from the Patient Participation Group (PPG) were available to answer questions, and members of the Integrated Care Board (ICB) illustrated the services they offer to patients.
Additional topics discussed included maximising benefits from appointments and the advantages of consulting a pharmacy over a GP. A Kiddy Corner was also available, equipped with colouring books for children.
Dr. Mohit Venkataram, Executive Lead for Primary Care at East London NHS Foundation Trust (ELFT), commented, “The open day illustrated our progress in empowering residents by supporting them in accessing the right professional care for timely interventions. The landscape of primary care has evolved over the last year, with many specialties now offering expert care, reducing the reliance on GP waiting times. It’s heartening to see our clinical and management teams embracing the leadership of our residents and supporting them through the evolving healthcare landscape.”
