Nearly 90 guests participated in the Beyond Shelter: Unlocking Potential and Unlocking Hope held in Flitwick on June 25.
The event provided an opportunity for key stakeholders to gather, share progress, test the ‘case for change’ driving work on the pathway and to consider key points for implementation.
The pathway programme covers provision of care and accommodation for all working age adults who may have mental health needs across all four ‘places’ within BLMK: Bedford borough, central Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes.
All four areas were represented, including commissioners and a range of provider and voluntary sector organisations. Practitioners from East London NHS Foundation Trust (ELFT) and Central North West London NHS Foundation Trust (CNWL) were also involved.
Presenters on the day were:
Marek Zamborsky, ELFT programme director – personalisation
ELFT consultant rehabilitation psychiatrist Dr Lucja Kolkiewicz
Interim mental health wellbeing commissioner manager – population wellbeing for Luton Council, Kevin Dowling
Luton Council commissioning team
“This has been a collaborative programme from the beginning,” said Marek Zamborsky, ELFT programme director – personalisation.
“The ‘case for change’ at our partnership Beyond Shelter event received a positive response and endorsement from those present, enabling work to proceed at place, guided by priorities and actions agreed in the event’s place-based breakout groups.”
Attendees were encouraged to ‘watch this space’ for further engagement events as the pathway develops and to reach out to place commissioners for news of local developments.
