Teams represented included Community Learning Disability services (CLDS), Tower Hamlets Community Health Services (CHS), Community Mental health Teams (CMHT’s) , Inpatient Mental Health Services, Temporary employment services (bank) and Tower Hamlets Talking Therapies.
The event was put on to support ELFT’s role as an anchor institution as well as showcasing services.
Promoting employment opportunities within ELFT to the local community and inspiring the next generation of healthcare practitioners from within Tower Hamlets are key aspirations of the Trust.
The women inclusive team in Tower hamlets organised the venue and communications to local residents.
Services made contact with over 70 residents looking for employment opportunities and are following up on each one individually.
Visitors to the fare said the following:
“I have lived in Tower Hamlets all my life and never knew that there was this amount of services within the area “
“I am inspired to become a nurse. It is only when you hear of the wonderful services we have in TH that you want to be part of this”
“I have managed to make connections with local group leads in how we can work in their spaces to provide culturally sensitive services”
“I have worked in ELFT for over 15 years and have yet to see so much engagement from the Somali community, this is definitely a step in the right direction.
Interim Borough Director for Tower Hamlets Mental Health Services Day Njovana said:
“I was particularly pleased by how the community embraced this event and the keenness to collaborate and make EFLT an organisation that works on the terms of the people we serve.
“We have already started planning for future events with the Women Inclusive team, other voluntary organisations and the local authority on how we can live our values of being anchor institutions in Tower Hamlets.”
