An art therapist based in Tower Hamlets won an AHP Award at the annual awards ceremony hosted by the West London NHS Trust; an organisation she is jointly employed by alongside ELFT.
Helen Short attended the awards evening on Monday, 5th February at the Ealing Trailfinders Rugby Club, honouring the AHP workforce across West London and its contributions to care.
Helen’s work at West London Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) was recognised. She promoted the art therapy disciplines by running academic seminars, training and experiential sessions for staff. She also set up four new training placements, as well as the first music therapy role and Head of Art Therapies position.
Helen’s award also acknowledged her work as a clinical lead for arts therapies within acute mental health services in West London, where she also developed and ran a family support service for those who had been admitted. This service is to be replicated in Tower Hamlets, with a pilot programme set to launch next financial year.
