Health E1 Homeless Medical Centre is seeking support from organisations and the public to provide long-life food supplies, toiletries, and clothing.
Donations will be distributed to visitors at its winter fair on November 29, 2024.
The fair aims to be a one-stop health and help shop for people living in hostels or supported accommodation, rough sleepers, sofa surfers, and those who spend significant time on the street or in public places.
The donations of food, toiletries, and clothes will provide invaluable support for Health E1 patients.
The fair will be held at the practice at 9-11 Brick Lane from 9:30 to 14:00.
Donors can drop off donations at the practice or call 0207 247 0090 for more information.
Food bank items and free supplies of clothes will be available, along with health and social care support, and other assistance for visitors.
The practice is partnering with several organisations, including Tower Hamlets Council, Groundswell, Friendly Faces in Lonely Places, The Hygiene Bank, Bromley by Bow Centre, the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), City and Hive, St Mungo's, Providence Row, and Good Things Foundation to provide comprehensive support on the day.
“This event reflects our commitment to supporting the most vulnerable,” said Emily Van De Pol, ELFT’s Primary Care Director.
“We’re truly grateful for everyone in our community who comes together to make sure people feel seen, supported, and cared for across the borough.”
Health E1 is part of East London NHS Foundation Trust (ELFT), a provider of primary care, community health, and mental health services.
The practice supports anyone in Tower Hamlets who is homeless, staying in a hostel, hotel, or temporary accommodation, sofa surfing, or struggling to register with a GP.
