The Tower Hamlets Recovery College – an educational facility for those with experience using mental health services in Tower Hamlets – recently held its annual summer fete at Mudchute Park and Farm on the Isle of Dogs.
The event was completely free for all to attend, and was open to anyone associated with the Trust, including staff, service users and carers. This was as well as all members of the public looking for an afternoon of activities.
Attendees had the chance to get up and close with the farm’s animals to learn about them in more detail, as well as enjoying face painting, henna tattooing, games focussing on mindfulness and food and drink.
Jessica Prakash, who is the Tower Hamlets Recovery Manager, said: “We’re really pleased with how the Summer Fete turned out. Approximately 250 people from across the community attended from across all age groups.
“The event was a great opportunity to showcase our garden at Mudchute Farm, where we host weekly drop-in gardening for wellbeing sessions.
“A huge thank you to Mudchute Park and Farm, our team of volunteers as well as the community for making the day a success.”
The Recovery College’s Operational Lead, Marcia Bowman, added: “We’re delighted with the positive feedback we’ve had and the connections made at our Summer Fete. Thank you to everybody who attended – whether from Tower Hamlets or further afield.”
