As part of the UK-Africa Health Summit 2025 and in collaboration with Global Health Partnerships (GHP) formerly known as THET, we were pleased to welcome a delegation from the Zimbabwean Ministry of Health and Child Care, led by Permanent Secretary Dr Aspect Maunganidze and Dr Christopher Pasi Head of the Health Service Commission to Mile End Hospital.
The group was accompanied by Ben Simms, CEO of Global Health Partnerships and other GHP colleagues including Moses Wasswa Mulimira, Diaspora Engagement Advisor and former ELFT staff member. The visit was hosted by Tower Hamlets Service Director Day Njovana and Clinical Director Dr Leah White, who welcomed the guests and guided them through a programme showcasing several of our local services.
The delegation visited Tower Hamlets Community Health Services, where they met with Deputy Service Director Petra Nittel and other colleagues, before attending an engaging and informative session on our Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), facilitated by Service Manager Richard Vivian. They also toured the Home Treatment Team and Adult Acute Admission Wards, facilitated by Borough Lead Nurse Dadai Dandato and Service Manager and Crisis Lead Melanie King, who shared insights into service user engagement, staff well-being, service delivery and innovation.
The visit concluded with a roundtable discussion led by Dr Nick Bass, ELFT’s Director of Global Health, who introduced the new ELFT-GHP Zimbabwe Project. He was joined by Sidney Millin and Amanda Lowe from People Participation, Chief People Officer Tanya Carter, Toby Baldwin from the Digital Team, Chief Operating Officer and Deputy CEO Edwin Ndlovu, and Chief Medical Officer Dr David Bridle.
This visit was a valuable opportunity for learning and collaboration, and we are grateful to our visitor for visiting and to all staff who contributed to making it a success.
