Some of our patients rely on enteral devices, which involves tubes being inserted either through the nose or surgically into the GI tract to allow nutrients, fluids, and medications to be administered to the child. This can involve feed being given via a pump. There are many reasons why a child may require these devices, which may include swallowing difficulties, or long term feeding requirements, for example.
Every child who requires an enteral devices does so due to needing help to meet their nutritional requirements. Safe and effective management of these devices at school is therefore paramount and we can provide the tools that school staff need to do this through training sessions.
