NHS 111, 'Option 2' in East London
You are able to call NHS 111 and select 'Option 2' in East London. Calls to the local crisis lines currently in place at ELFT will be diverted to the centralised 111, option 2 service, meaning that no calls will be missed.
We encourage those known to services to continue contacting them in the ways they had been doing so previously during working hours. Those wishing to contact a mental health professional outside of hours – or those who aren’t previously known to services – should contact 111 and select option 2. Read more in our website news item.
Alternatively, you can call our borough-specific 24 hour mental health crisis lines for support. The numbers are listed below:
- City and Hackney - 0800 073 0006
- Tower Hamlets - 0800 073 0003
- Newham - 0800 073 0066
Additionally, we have CAMHS professionals available in three A&E hospital departments in east London 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Hospital addresses can be found below:
- City & Hackney – Homerton University Hospital Accident & Emergency Department Homerton Row London E9 6SR
- Newham – Newham University Hospital Emergency Department Glen Road London E13 8SL
- Tower Hamlets – Royal London Hospital Emergency Department Whitechapel Road London E1 1FR
We would recommend that in the first instance you request a referral to your community CAMHS which can be done by speaking to your GP, school or social worker.
However, if you or someone you know is presenting as an immediate risk to themselves or others around them, we would recommend that they are supported to access a specialist crisis mental health assessment via your local A&E department. In a life-threatening emergency, call 999.
