Referrals are accepted by GPs, Physiotherapist, Podiatrist, Occupational Therapist, District Nurses, Social Services, Vascular Nurses and Social Workers.
Patient Appliance Service
The Patient Appliance Service involves the assessment, of an Orthotic device externally fitted to support any part of the body that is weakened by a defect, disease or injury or to correct and maintain a restricted function.
Patients are assessed for Upper Limb, Spinal, Lower Limb and Foot Orthotics.
The Patient Appliance Service aim is to provide suitable Orthoses for people with a permanent condition that impairs their ability to walk and also provide a comprehensive service that includes consideration of comfort, posture, function, and pressure relief.
The Patient Appliance Service is supported by an external Orthotist who assess and cast and fit specialised Orthotics and also an Appliance Officer.
Patients are referred from the age of 18 years for Orthotics. Patients who reside in the London Borough of Newham or have a GP in the borough are referred to the service.
