Pulmonary Rehabilitation (Newham)
The Pulmonary Rehabilitation Service has continued to address the health needs for patients with COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) throughout the borough of Newham. Pulmonary Rehabilitation is an exercise and educational class that can help break the vicious cycle of increasing breathlessness, fatigue and reduced fitness.
One of the main objectives is to empower the patients with techniques and skills to manage their long-term condition. Outcome measures are effectively utilised to show them objectively how their functional ability is improving throughout the programme. Referrals are from the patient, GPs and other health care professionals.
Classes are run at: East Ham Care Centre and St Marks Community Hall (Beckton).
- Service Lead: Melissa Sundrum, Clinical Lead for Pulmonary Rehabilitation Services and Long COVID
