They will give you the space to talk about what is important to you.
Psychologist – Clinical Psychologists provide "talking therapy" to help people reduce their distress and improve psychological well-being. They will work together with you to help you to understand emotional difficulties and develop skills to reduce distress, build resilience and work towards meaningful goals.
Peer support worker – A peer support worker is someone who has lived experience of mental health difficulties and working with mental health services. At the core of peer support work is promoting personal strengths. A peer support worker works alongside you, promoting autonomy over their recovery journey, whilst also sharing their lived experiences. This fosters partnerships, reducing loneliness and stigma. Peer support is led by the individual being supported. Sessions can range from conversations to practical sessions that support the person with their goals.
Community connector – The community connector at THEDS helps improve the mental well-being by offering holistic one-to-one support through client-led sessions tailored by individual priorities, interests, values, and goals. The aim is to empower and guide you towards discovering their aspirations and supporting them in their journey to reach their goals. THEDS community connector identifies community services, opportunities and groups that resonate with the young person while coaching, building trust and motivating them in the process.
Doctor – The psychiatrist is a medical doctor specialised in mental health. They can provide options for medication. They will build a positive working relationship with you over the 2 years. The decision to take medication will always be your choice.
