Family Ambassadors are part of the North Central East London CAMHS Provider Collaborative. We work with families and young people living with Autism Spectrum Condition and/or learning disabilities who have been admitted to an inpatient unit.
Family Ambassadors understand that an admission into an inpatient unit may be overwhelming for both the young person and their family. Our team is dedicated to ensuring our service users have a positive experience of care as they transition back into the community.
What makes Family Ambassadors unique is that we are parents/guardians with lived experience. This means we have a personal insight into supporting young people and their families. We are friendly and compassionate during what might be a challenging time for families. We are part of the Learning Disability and Autism Team that support families during the Care Education Treatment Review that take place every three months.
This ensures that young people and their families are involved in decisions about their care. With the additional support that Family Ambassadors provide, we can ensure that transparency, openness and effective communication is given to families. This in turn helps to build trust with families and the multidisciplinary team involved in their care.
Family’s needs are varied therefore our support is tailored to their individual needs
