The event, hosted by East London NHS Foundation Trust’s (ELFT) Greenhouse Practice, took place at 19 Tudor Road on Friday, December 6.
The health day focused on supporting City and Hackney residents experiencing homelessness, living in temporary accommodation, or struggling to register with a GP.
Visitors were offered hot meals, long-life food supplies, toiletries, winter clothing, smoking cessation services, and additional healthcare support.
The event was made possible by the Greenhouse Practice’s multi-agency partnership group, which included Groundswell, Hackney Council, the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), StreetVet, Riverside Engage Hackney, Stop Smoking, Turning Point, the Liver Clinic, and Thames Reach, all providing comprehensive support on the day.
The ELFT Corporate Secretariat team contributed donations, and the event’s festive atmosphere was enhanced with music and karaoke, bringing together patients and staff.
“Thank you to our partners and our ELFT Corporate Secretariat team who worked behind the scenes to make this event a huge success for our patients. We feel united and like we’ve made a real difference in our community,” said Ruth Thacker, Practice Manager.
“The Greenhouse is looking out for us in the community, and they organise Christmas events like this for us. It’s the best way to say goodbye to 2024 and welcome 2025 in a happy spirit,” said Maximo, a Greenhouse patient who also provided music and karaoke for visitors.
The Greenhouse Practice, part of ELFT, provides primary care services and supports City and Hackney residents experiencing homelessness, living in temporary accommodation, or struggling to register with a GP.
