ELFT attended and hosted a stall at UK Black Pride 2024 at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford on Sunday 11 August.
UK Black Pride is the world's largest pride celebration for LGBTQI+ people of African, Asian, Caribbean, Latin American and Middle Eastern descent and a safe space to celebrate diverse sexualities, gender identities, gender expressions and cultures.
The theme for the celebration this year was ‘Freedom and Justice'.
This year’s event was “a celebration of our right to love freely, live authentically, and be unapologetically ourselves”.
ELFT's LGBTQIA+ Staff Network, Richard Harwin, Tiffer Hutchings, Juliana Ansah, David Stevens and David Bridle were joined by other staff who braved the heat throughout the day.
The day was a great opportunity to come together for a joyful party and an empowering protest, with an exciting lineup of performances, talks, community stalls, and workshops.
Richard Harwin, Co-Lead of ELFT Staff LGBTQ+ Network, said: "A huge presence and solidarity were instrumental in making the day a great success, especially given the recent civil unrest that undoubtedly caused some concern in the run-up to the event.
"ELFT are proud to work alongside UK Black Pride to have a meaningful impact on the lives of LGBTQ+ people of colour."
