The growing population of Newham means that the number of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) has significantly increased.
Our School Model, launched in January 2023, has enabled us to be more visible in schools.
We work in school hubs, covering geographical areas, supporting schools in ensuring OT is embedded into school programmes.
Advice from an Occupational Therapist may help if a child or young person is having difficulty with functional tasks, which impact on their ability to participate and engage in school life.
Referrals to OT, we do not accept paper referrals from schools. All queries must first come through the OT Hub Line (see below) where you will be able to speak to a member of the team who can direct you to universal resources. If the referral is more 'complex' a member of your School Hub Team will contact you to discuss your concerns.
Please refer to the OT Referral Criteria and Exclusion Criteria on the main OT Page.
