This year's Learning Disability Awareness Week has a focus on how people with Learning Disability are reconnecting with friends and building up their social activities and networks after the pandemic. This is an area of life relevant to us all as we all try to get back in the habit of meeting up and seeing each other.
This is a more pressing issue when you have a learning disability and can experience loneliness, isolation, stigma, fewer employment opportunities, etc. There were high rates of illness and loss of life in this group as many were already managing health conditions. Some STILL have to isolate due to having high risk health conditions which make them vulnerable to infection.
Here are some of the events planned for the week:
- Adaptive Yoga Every Tuesday on Zoom. 10.15-10.45
- Annual Health Checks in Bedfordshire: 20, 22 and 28 June
- Moggerhangar Park Café event 22 June, 10.30am-12.00
