In response to this, the ELFT Estates team commissioned independent chartered building surveyors to carry out a review of our buildings. They have provided assurance that our buildings are not affected. We are seeking similar assurance from owners where we lease buildings.
RAAC was used between the 1950s and 1990s, mostly in flat roofing but also in floors and walls. It offered a cheaper alternative to standard concrete. But it has a short lifespan which means it can become weakened and unstable over time
ELFT Estates will continue its governance and assurance processes to ensure that the Trust’s exposure to RAAC is tracked, recorded and acted on if found.
Our PFI building at Newham has been surveyed and does not have RAAC and we have received assurances from the Community Health Partnerships at EHCC that RAAC is not present
